Aino works as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, in the Department of Social Sciences. Her doctoral research explores understandings of family among people in their early years of marriage. She analysed how relatedness in relationships with family and friends was brought into being by using different dimensions of temporality. Her research interests include everyday life, family figurations, intimacies, kinship, temporality, qualitative methods and sociological theory. She is also the editor-in-chief of Perheyhteiskunta.fi, a Finnish blog popularising scientific research on families and intimate lives and a board member of Finnish Society for Research on Families and Personal Relationships.
